Blanket Drive

Blanket Drive

Ms. Davis’ High School Business Classes are sponsoring a “Blanket Drive” from November 12th – 25th.  We are in search of nice, clean blankets to give out to needy students and community members.  As an encouragement for my students, I am offering extra credit for bringing in blankets.  My goal is to obtain 150 blankets, so look around your home and bring in blankets that you do not need.  After January 1st, utility expenses are estimated to increase by 30% - 40% in the St. James area; so many people will need to lower their energy costs by living in cold homes.  Help spread the warmth!!!

Practice

Practice will begin after school on Monday Novermber 3rd in the elementary old gym.

This will be an extremely long day and it is imperative that students take care of themselves this week, especially Friday night.  The band will be released after Half-time to go home and sleep to prepare for Valhalla.  Please make sure everyone does this so we can have a better chance at excellence on Saturday.

Please do your best to travel to these competitions.  We need the support in the stands.  We are not the home town favorite there and your cheers help us to perform better.  You are a part of the show when you make yourselves heard.  Any parents that want to ride the bus to support the band may do so.  We have a bit of room this year.  It isn't comfy, but it is a ride!

Sullivan Marching Festival

The band did a very good job last Saturday at the Sullivan Marching Festival.  We only took 4th place, but we had the 2nd highest Visual effect, the 3rd highest General Effect, and decent scores everywhere other than Music.  We also took outstanding Auxiliary.  We have to get our playing score up and we need to march better, but I am very proud of their accomplishments over the past three weeks.  We by far had a harder show than anyone else in our class and it will just take longer to get it cleaner.  Please encourage practicing in your household and continue to show your support for the band.
