A+ COORDINATOR’S MESSAGE
To Students and Parents:
The education of all students is important, regardless of their plans following high school. Some John F. Hodge graduates will choose to attend a four-year college or university; others may go directly into the work force or military; still others may seek additional training at a post-secondary vocational school or community college. The A+ Program is designed to ensure that no matter which option is chosen, all high school students will be provided selections of courses, career counseling, technology and/or workplace skill development opportunities that are appropriate to their career goals.
The three major goals of the A+ Program are that:
· All students will graduate.
· All students will complete a course of study that is challenging and for which there are identified learner expectations
· All students will proceed from high school to a college or post-secondary vocational or technical school or a high wage job
It is common knowledge that those who graduate from high school have more earning power than high school dropouts. We also know that those with post-secondary training typically earn more than those who have no additional training. The jobs that will be most plentiful in the 21st century will require additional training beyond high school, but not necessarily a four-year degree. How will you pay for this training?
