Our local FTA chapter attended this year's district convention at Missouri S&T on Wednesday, May 7, 2008.  The theme for this year's meeting was "Teaching.....The Great Expedition."  One of our students, Marilyn Hughes, held southcentral FTA district office as secretary for the southcentral region.  As secretary she led the attendance count for the meeting and helped with nominations and campaign speeches.  Grady Huggins and Erin Rinehart campaigned for next year's 2008-09 district offices.  Erin was elected district Vice President and Grady was elected as Secretary.  Students listened to the welcome presented by Dr. Larry Gregg from Missouri S&T and the keynote speaker, Kenneth Cooke, from Iberia High School.  The Iberia STOMP group provided the entertainment of dance routines and a drum group performed.  Our local FTA chapter won the district name tag design contest.  They received free chapter FTA membership for next year.
