At the Spartan Duals we went 5-3 as a team. Individual results are:
Dalton 1-3, Danny 5-3, Sean 6-2, Seth 5-3, Daniel 5-3, Taylor 3-5, Mason 1-6, Grant 1-7, Cameron 2-1, Marshall 7-1, Robert 2-1, Jake 6-2, Marcus 4-4.
Varsity was at the Mexico Duals, for the first time is school history we pinned out. All ten kids we took pinned thier opponent in a dual with Missouri Military Academy. Overall we took 4th as a team going 2-3. Seth Thompson had a great day wrestling some great opponents, alongside Marshall winning all 3 of his contested matches keeping him undefeated for the season still. Today we won in many ways as we moved closer to our goal at the end of the season, while our team as young as they are got some great experience against solid teams. We won vs Principia 36-21, MMA 60-6, and lost to Blair Oaks 42-18, MOberly 66-15, and Mexico 60-13. There was some awesome competition at the tournament that we needed to see, as the next two weeks are very tough and will let us see where we are at state wise.
Danny Mccarthy- 3-2, Sean Hunter 1-4, Seth Thompson 3-2, Daniel Davis 3-2, Taylor Busche 2-3, Cameron Orlando 2-3, Mason Ragland 2-3, Marshall Woolsey 5-0, Robert Watson 3-2, Jake Gleason 2-3.
Our JV went to the Rolla Tournament and had a great learning day. Dalton Gann-0-3, Sam Bunyard 2-1, Anthony Williams 0-3, Chris Palmer 0-3, Aaron MacFarland 1-2, Jesse Hays 0-3, Marcus Bradshaw 1-2.
Last night was a great dual, and we wrestled the best I have seen so far this season. We looked really good at times, and came up just short. Hopefully we learned the difference between winning and winning by pin as that was the end result. Hopefully we can build on this dual.

McCluer South Berkley Tournament was another great tournament for our team. We finished 1st, with back to back tournament wins. We wrestled well and were ahead all day long.. We reached more of our goals. We had 10 out of the 12 in the top 4. We also, have over half of our lineup with over 20 wins for the season. Overall the kids wrestled well and realized that it wasn't our greatest performance all season, but it was still a good day! We have placed in the top 3 as a team, in every tournament so far this season, and will continue to keep that going.

I was pleased with the way we came out and wrestled our first match back from Christmas break. The guys came out looking for pins and got them. They wrestled very aggressive, and were moving move to move. Even the matches we lost we had a chance to win. This puts us with 20 wins for the first time. The team is excited about reaching one of the goals we had at the beginning of the season, and is looking forward to reaching the next goal.

JV Tournament at Blair Oaks, we had one champion in Josh Karnes, and one second place finish in Cameron Orlando. It was a great opportunity for our JV kids to pick up extra matches over Christmas break rather than just practicing for three weeks straight(they didn't compete the last week of school either). It was a tough JV tournament that included around a dozen schools like Helias, Jeff City, Moberly, owensville, etc.

Cameron Orlando 2-1
Justin Heidbreder 1-4

This past weekend we went to the Moberly Duals and had a great tournament for us. We went 6-2 as a team, taking our overall record to 18-6. They did not give out individual or team awards, as it was all about the matches. Which is what we needed, wanted, and got. We continue to see growth in our wrestling and positive things happening in every tournament. We lost to Fulton by one point, and to Moberly once again. We did improve our score against Moberly from last week, and did a much better job staying away from pins. We had Jason and Nick hit their 100th win. So now we have 3 wrestlers with 100 wins so far for their career, congrats to all of them! We also had Danny break the freshman record for wins this weekend. We have one of our hardest weeks ahead, as Christmas is here and we have started all of our drops weight wise so it is very important we control our weight and maintain our discipline over the break. From the coaching staff...we hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!

I am going to start doing a Wrestler Of the Week, this weeks wrestler of the week is Nick Declue!

At Mexico we started off with a big win over Mexico that ended up being the dual for 3rd place. As a team we took 3rd place and individually Nick Declue got the Lambo Award, which was the wrestler of the tournament. We gave up 3 open spots which cost us points every dual, one of those opens is where a captain Payton Woolsey who is normally a scorer for us would have been. It was a great tournament for our team, to see our potential and what we can do as a team even without a captain in the lineup. We should be that much better when we have those spots filled with our good wrestlers this weekend. Several ranked kids were at this tournament, along with preseason ranked teams. Our guys wrestled well and I was happy with the way that we competed with the level of competition that was at the tournament.

Monday night we split to take our record to 8-1. We are not happy with it. We beat Herculaneum by one point on a major from our senior Jason Walls after getting three consecutive pins to switch the momentum to us. It was a good match for us and it really showed our inexperience at times. We lost to St. Clair by 6pts. That is a match we will want back for sure. We gave up too many points by being pinned or open.

We took 11 rookies to the North County Rookie Roundup tournament Saturday, and brought home four champions. Eight out of our eleven were in the top 3. We went 27-19 as a team. We lost more matches in our first two rounds than we did in our last 3 rounds, so I was pleased with our improvement as the day went along. This group of kids will be expected to push the varsity group above them, to the point in which some of them will have to fill an open spot at the varsity livel in thier first year wrestling.
Danny Mccarthy 4-0, 1st Place
Seth Thompson 1-3, 4th place

7-0 in duals with a lot to go. We have a lot of work to do, as we are seeing several mistakes being made that should not be. We are winning some key matches during the duals and getting our momentum at the right time. I pleased with the direction we are headed and several other guys in our room just became eligible again, so our lineup should be filled out. I think the excitement is growing around here, and with that has to come harder work!

We won the dual with Hancock. I told the kids going into this match we have been in thier spot before where we have given up so many spots. So we have to concentrate on the "match" count. We came out and won all three matches by a pin. It was the first time in school history that we have had not given up a point. Our hats are off to thier kids as that is a tough way to stay focused and goal oriented with that few wrestlers in the practice room. They wrestled hard!
