Building Projects UpdateOctober 15, 2018Currently Dake Wells Architecture is finishing up the Construction Document set for the Early Childhood addition. Branco, our Construction Manager at Risk, will send this portion of the project out to bid the 4th week of October and will have a public bid opening the second week in November. This portion of the project will be completed before work on the High school will start. This phasing will help to minimize the impact of construction at the high school. Branco will send the High School Construction Documents out to bid in December. The early childhood addition will have 9 classrooms, including general classrooms, occupational therapy and physical therapy classrooms, a speech classroom, multipurpose play room, and a secure entry. The playgrounds for the early childhood students will be located directly to the north of the new addition providing safe, direct access to the outdoors. The exterior of the building will be clad in brick that will match the existing elementary school and have metal panel accents to help identify the entries and create a durable, long lasting fence for the new early childhood play areas. We are really excited to get this out to bid and to break ground in December!
The proposed timeline below lays out the 4 major steps for the 2018 Proposition K.I.D.S. bond issue. The $12 Million in funding is split, with $3 Million dedicated to the first project (New early childhood center) and the rest going to the later high school projects(New district-wide performing arts auditorium & Renovation to existing high school).
