Welcome to Lucy Wortham James Elementary
Dear Parents, Friends, and Family,
On behalf of the family at Lucy Wortham James Elementary School, we would like to welcome you to our school. Lucy Wortham James Elementary houses preschool through fifth grade. Our teachers and staff work many hours to provide our students with exciting and educational activities and maintain high expectations. Teachers and staff are lifelong learners and work continuously throughout the school year to develop the best practices of teaching available. Lucy Wortham James Elementary has top-notch teachers who continually strive to meet the changing needs of all children.
We encourage our parents and community members to be involved in our school activities. We believe that when support extends beyond the classroom walls, students can achieve even greater success. Our teachers and staff are focused on making learning a positive experience, helping students become successful and responsible citizens.
As we continue to create 21st-century leaders, we must strive to keep technology as an instructional resource at our school. With the integration of technology into the classroom, students are taught using a constructivist method of instruction which encourages, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. All third, fourth, and fifth-grade classrooms are set up with one MacBook for every student. The preschool, kindergarten, first, and second grades will be using a combination of iPads and MacBooks to complement their learning experiences as well.
We are excited about the opportunity to continue to work with the dedicated staff and parents in the St. James community. We continue to be genuinely impressed at how friendly, hard working, and caring people are here, especially about the children in the community.
