Open House

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer and are excited about all the opportunities this upcoming Fall.  The staff here at John F. Hodge has worked hard this summer to provide your sons and daughters with the highest quality of education they can receive.  We have a few new faces, and some familiar faces that are coming back to the district.  I can tell you that I am personally so excited to be able to help serve the students, staff, and community here in St. James.

Online registration is now live and you should have received an email from central office. To register online:
1. Go the the St. James School Webpage: www.stjschools.org
2. Click on SISK12 tab on the top right of the front page and click on the parent tab
3. Type in your username and password
      a. If you don’t remember your password just click “Forgot your parent password” and you will receive an email  from  the system.
4. Select Online Registration once you log  in and follow the instructions

There is no high school supply list. Students are expected to arrive at school with a charged iPad, writing utensil, paper, and required materials for each specific class. Teachers that require materials specific for their class will let their students know the first weeks of school.

Also we will be having our Open House on August 19th from 6:30 - 8:30pm.  We will be offering our Open House a little differently this year.  We are offering five choices for you to attend with your child as a mini parent academy.  You can choose as many or as few as you would like.  Our goal is to provide you with useful information and to make sure you are as informed as possible.  The sessions will be 15 minutes each with 5 minutes in between.  More information will be coming out about Open House.  The sessions will include:
1. Activity Blitz (Little Gym) - Learn everything that John F. Hodge has to offer to enhance your child’s education.
2. College and Scholarship Information (Old Band Room) - Learn what your child must do to maximize their exposure to colleges and scholarships.
3. Canvas and SIS Training (Library) - Learn how to navigate both sights to stay connected with your child’s progress throughout the year.
4. A+ and HS Expectations (Auditorium) - Make sure your child is A+ eligible to earn free money for college.
5. Walk the Halls and Meet Teachers - Get tours to the new construction or meet your teachers and say hi.

This year we are also bringing back parking passes.  Parking passes can be purchased from Mrs. Garver in the front office for $10.  You must have a pass to park on campus. Another new service that the district is providing is insurance for all iPads.  Full coverage insurance is available for $27 for the year.  The service can be purchased after August 16th and will go into effect August 24th.  If a student does not have insurance the new first incident fee is $50.  You might have noticed we have a new website and app in an attempt to stay connected with the community and communicate efficiently.

Words can’t express how excited we are to start this school year. Our mission is to empower students through caring relationships, academic excellence, and community relationships.  We are here to serve, and I personally look forward to working with all of you.

Sincerely,

Devin Johnson

High School Principal
