December 18, 2017
It is hard to believe how fast 2017 has flown by! As the year comes to a close, and we look toward the new year, it is a great time to reflect and be grateful.
As December is the season of giving, it is the perfect time to express our gratitude to the community of St. James. As a district, we are grateful to serve wonderfully talented and creative students. We are grateful to partner with supportive families, community organizations, and city leaders. We are grateful to our community members and volunteers for supporting St. James R-I Schools and our students.
After the first of the year, we will begin an extremely important initiative for the district. The Board of Education recently selected an architect to begin the process of designing a new performing arts facility, a new early childhood center, and renovations to the old high school as determined by the district’s short and long-term facility plans. We want the purpose and designs to reflect the goals of our entire district, including our students, staff, parents and community members. As such, we will soon develop a timeline and hold informational meetings to gain a better understanding of how we can meet the needs of all of our residents while maintaining a high-quality education for our students. We are looking for community and staff volunteers to become active in the design and campaign phases of this initiative. More information about this initiative will be coming soon. If you are interested about being a volunteer for the design and campaign phases of this initiative, you can contact me by phone at 573-265-2300, or by email at email@example.com.
It has been an excellent start to the school year, and I hope our students and staff enjoy the upcoming and well-deserved holiday season. The last day of first semester will be a half day on Wednesday, December 20 (12:30 dismissal). Students will return on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
On behalf of the St. James R-I Board of Education and the entire district staff, I extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to all our families and community members. We thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support our schools and students. We truly are better because of you! I hope you have a safe and relaxing Christmas and New Year!
