“There was a math teacher, Fred Wright, who asked me to push a little bit harder. And Ann Stephens taught English and also drama - and I got to be the star of the play. There’s no way there’d be a Microsoft without them doing what they did.” - Bill Gates
This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! We are fortunate to have a dedicated and caring team of educational professionals in the St. James R-I School District. With the latest state and national educational initiatives, they are asked to do more for students, both in and out of the classroom, and with less resources from year to year. Yet, they never fail to meet these new challenges each and every time. Please join me in thanking our teaching and professional staff for all they do to prepare our children for success in our schools, in the community, and in their future lives. We all know someone who made a difference in our lives during our childhood. Think back to a teacher from your childhood who made a positive difference and thank him or her. If this teacher is no longer living, contact a family member of the teacher and tell them how he/she made a difference in your life. I’m sure that short message would make their day.
As a reminder, Graduation will be Sunday, May 20 at 2pm at the Middle School gymnasium. The class of 2018 is comprised of so many outstanding young men and women. Come out and support our graduates as they are recognized and honored on this day.
