The St. James High School Senior Beta Club recently participated in the Missouri State Beta Convention in Branson, Missouri. While attendance was slightly lower this year due to a new sponsorship and an earlier convention date, our Betas still found great success!
At the convention, the team of Megan Michel, Raegen Witt, Abby Carroll, and Kaytte Forister competed in the Living Literature event. Their participation was made possible by the generous support of Barry and Crystal Wainwright, along with AJ Prawitz. A big thank you to Sponsor Katie Shultz for guiding our Betas this year! Abigale Cahill submitted an entry in black and white photography, and Valarie Pankey and Amber Frost presented entries in Scrapbook and Service Learning Showcase.
Throughout the convention, members also participated in a variety of activities, including a scavenger hunt that encouraged them to meet fellow Betas from across the state.
Congratulations to the following students who placed and qualified to compete at the National level:
Yousseff Jirardi: 3rd place in French
Johnny Perkins: 1st place in US History (12th grade)
Joshua Rinehart: 5th place in US History (9th grade)
This marks Johnny Perkins' third consecutive year qualifying to participate at the national level.
The Beta experience doesn't end here! The high school officers are currently planning a Beta Day, which will include community service, opportunities to learn more about the organization, and fellowship with other Beta members.
