Parents/Guardians/Students:
We are experiencing weather this winter season we haven’t experienced in many years. St. James Schools is trying to create a balance for ensuring student continued learning and maintaining the school calendar. We want to achieve this by implementing Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) days during the periods of inclement weather that we are facing.
Assignments:
The AMI days will occur by having students log into their Canvas courses and completing the class assignments that have already been uploaded by their classroom teachers. If a student does not have internet access at their home, then paper copies of their classroom assignments can be picked up in the main entrance of the High School beginning at 10:00 am on Monday. The assignments will be placed by class on tables inside the main entrance foyer. A parent or student can enter the school main doors and retrieve the assignments. When we return to school, students will turn in their completed assignments to their teachers.
Tutoring availability, if necessary:
Students who may need help on assignments, and have internet availability, will have access to their teacher via email and Google meets. Students and parents can contact their teachers using email on days of AMI between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. Teachers will be checking their emails periodically throughout the day, and will respond to inquiries about classroom work. Additionally, each department is offering online Google Meet video access for tutoring. Each department/ teacher has a Google Meet set up on their classroom Canvas Courses.
Please use the following time schedule for each day that we are out of school.
