LWJE Celebrates Reading Across America with Special Guests

Lucy Wortham James Elementary joined schools across the nation in celebrating Read Across America Day. This annual event, which coincides with Dr. Seuss's birthday, is dedicated to promoting literacy and the joy of reading among young students.

To make this year's celebration extra special, active duty service members from Fort Leonard Wood came to our school and read books to our students. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet real-life soldiers, ask questions, and learn about the individuals that protect our country.

As Dr. Seuss once said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." At St. James R-1 School District, we believe that reading is the key to unlocking a world of possibilities for our students, and we are grateful to our service members for helping us celebrate this important day.

We look forward to continuing to promote literacy and the joy of reading among our students throughout the year.
