The St. James R-1 School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kim Williams as its new principal at Lucy Wortham James Elementary School beginning July 1, 2024.
With a career spanning 15 years in education, Dr. Williams brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. She holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education (grades 1-6) from the University of Missouri–Columbia, accompanied by a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. She continued her education and received multiple degrees from Lindenwood University: a Master’s degree, a Specialist degree, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership.
Dr. Williams' tenure in education began with teaching experiences at Thayer Elementary on Ft. Leonard Wood, where she instructed fifth and first-grade students, followed by her contributions to Truman Elementary in Rolla, MO, teaching first and third grade. Currently serving as the assistant principal at Cuba Elementary in the Crawford County R-II School District, Dr. Williams has acquired a diverse skill set and a thorough understanding of educational administration.
Embracing the traditions and successful practices upheld by the St. James R-I School District, Dr. Williams aims to elevate Lucy Wortham James Elementary by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and communication. Her vision for the school involves consistent communication through monthly newsletters, providing necessary resources, and the cultivation of strong relationships among staff, students, and families.
"My door is always open and I want to elicit effective communication and a tight bond between school and community for years to come. It is important to take the time to listen and gain constructive feedback to meet the needs of all,” expressed Dr. Williams. “My mission is to support ongoing issues of behavior and discipline while simultaneously addressing the multifaceted challenges that shape our daily experiences. I believe that by fostering a culture of understanding, collaboration, innovation, and teamwork we can create an environment that propels all our students towards success."
Central to Dr. Williams' approach is a commitment to ensuring that all students feel valued and supported, regardless of their background or abilities. Her goal is to maintain a supportive learning environment that encourages every student to achieve their maximum potential.
Beyond her educational work, Dr. Williams was born and raised in the Rolla area and currently resides on a farm on the outskirts of St. James. Her personal interests include spending quality time with family and friends, exploring culinary arts, traveling, and watching documentaries.
