New Assistant High School Principal - Pat Burke

The St. James R-1 School District Board of Education has approved the hiring of Mr. Patrick Burke as the new Assistant Principal for St. James High School for the 2025–2026 school year.

“Mr. Burke brings a career full of experience in secondary education and school leadership,” said Mr. Tim Webster, Superintendent. “With three decades in education, his passion for building relationships and supporting both staff and students will make him a strong addition to our high school leadership team.”

Mr. Burke earned an associate degree from East Central College, a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education from Southeast Missouri State University, a master’s degree in administration from Lindenwood University, and a Superintendent Specialist certification from Missouri Baptist University. His career includes 17 years as a high school social studies teacher, four years as an assistant middle school principal, and the past eight years as principal of Sullivan Middle School. He briefly retired earlier this year before joining the St. James team for the 25-26 school year.

When asked about his vision for the district, Mr. Burke shared, “My goal is to continue building on the outstanding reputation St. James has developed over the years. I plan to strengthen student academic capacity through collaboration with staff, build lasting relationships with students across all grade levels, and foster positive partnerships with our community.”

He believes communication and relationships are the keys to a strong school community. “I enjoy working alongside staff to address challenges, find solutions, and watch both staff and students succeed,” he said. “I also believe every student should feel valued and supported, no matter their background or abilities, and that starts with getting to know them personally and treating everyone fairly.”

Mr. Burke grew up in Union, Missouri, and is happily married to his wife, who also serves as a high school assistant principal. Together, they have four grown sons who are thriving in their careers. A history enthusiast, he enjoys traveling with his family, attending concerts, and listening to live music whenever possible.

We are happy to welcome Mr. Burke to the Tiger Community!
