On the final day of professional development before the start of the 2025–26 school year, St. James R-1 School District welcomed Kelli Jones, Deputy Commissioner for the Division of Learning Services at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
During her visit, Jones provided district staff with an overview of the current state of public education in Missouri and outlined DESE’s priorities for the future. She also shared an encouraging message on professional and personal success, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, showing up consistently, and supporting the success of others.
“We appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from state leadership,” said Superintendent Tim Webster. “Her insights and encouragement were a meaningful way to close our professional development and prepare for the year ahead.”
The district extends its thanks to Deputy Commissioner Jones and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for their continued commitment to Missouri students and educators.
