St. James R-1 School District is proud to recognize the Special Education Department for achieving a 100% compliance determination in its most recent review by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Office of Special Education.
The review examined the department’s practices and documentation related to special education services and compliance requirements. The department received a 100% compliance determination across all areas evaluated.
While the review reflects the department’s careful attention to requirements and procedures, Special Education Director Amanda Gibson said the work behind the results ultimately focuses on providing the support students need to succeed.
“While a successful review is an important milestone, our focus remains on students,” Gibson said. “We will continue to strengthen our practices, support our staff, and partner with families to ensure every student has meaningful opportunities to learn and thrive.”
The determination reflects the ongoing work of St. James R-1 special education staff to support students, collaborate with families, and ensure services are provided in accordance with state requirements.
