Barb Wilson - Counselor of the Year Finalist. Missouri School Counselors Assosciation

St. James R-1 School District is proud to share that Barb Wilson, school counselor at St. James High School, has been named one of five finalists for Missouri School Counselor of the Year by the Missouri School Counselor Association.

“Barb cares about kids, and you see that in the way she shows up for them every day,” said Superintendent Tim Webster. “She wants to see our students succeed, and she puts in the work to help them get there. I’m really happy to see her get this recognition. She deserves it, and we’re lucky to have her here at St. James.”

Wilson and the other four finalists will be recognized during the Missouri School Counselor Association’s Fall Conference in St. Charles on November 7, 2026.

School counselors are an important part of a student’s journey, helping them work through challenges, recognize their strengths, explore opportunities, and plan for life after graduation. They build relationships with students and families, connect students with resources, and help them navigate the academic and personal decisions that shape their future.

Congratulations to Mrs. Wilson on this well-deserved recognition!
