Our Tiger Cubs students have had fun this week creating art with a variety of materials.

Our youngest Tigers celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day with a math and reasoning activity followed by enjoying delicious apples.

We are excited to announce that our building has added a Book Vending Machine! The Book Vending Machine was purchased with funds saved from our annual Scholastic Book Fair fundraisers, and PTO provided a large donation to help us reach the funding goal. We wanted to ensure that every single student in our school would have the opportunity to get a book each school year, so we chose to use this to help celebrate each child on their birthday. For students with summer birthdays, we will celebrate their half-birthdays. For birthdays that fall on the weekends or during extended breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.), we will celebrate on the Friday before. We are very excited to help build home libraries in this manner!

Friday, September 20, 2024:
3rd Grade will be hosting Family Movie Night at LWJE. We will be showing Despicable Me 4. The movie begins at 6:00pm in the big gym; the doors open at 5:45pm. Free popcorn and water! Please bring your own seating.

Join us for a fun Spirit Week!

Good afternoon! We are excited to announce that every child K-8 in our school district will receive a wristband for the Annual Grape and Fall Festival, thanks to our amazing community! Wristbands will be coming home with elementary students on Thursday, September 5th.

Picture day will be on Thursday, September 5th. We can't wait to see your smiles.

We are excited to have everyone back! As always, please have patience with us as we get drop off and dismissal under control. This process does get better with time. Please look over the following images to assist us in having a great start to the school year.

Our LWJE students have been learning about the Iditarod and have been attempting to finish the IDITAREAD!
Students were challenged to read for 1,000 minutes while the mushers were traveling the 1,000 miles from Willow, AK to Nome, AK. Many students rose to the challenge and others are still working to finish. The library is so proud of these students!
Students from Tiger Cubs to 4th Grade have participated in discussions, completed activities, and learned all about Alaska this month while we celebrate sled dogs and Alaska during Iditarod season.

"Snow" much fun happening in our library! Our Tiger Cubs and Kindergarteners listened to “Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion” by Alex T Smith and then participated in a corresponding activity.
Students were tasked with (indoor) snowballs into inflatable donuts. The students enjoyed working on gross motor skills, cooperative play, demonstrating a growth mindset, and having fun in the library.

Mark your calendars for our School Wide Title 1 Parent Night on Thursday, December 7! We can't wait to see you!

Mrs. Cindy’s, Mrs. Amanda’s, Mrs. Christy’s, and Mrs. Evers’ classes decorated gingerbread boys and girls as a big whole group activity. They explored many different options to decorate their gingerbread. The students loved working together on this activity!

Today Mrs. Witt’s Kindergarten Class prepared for the Thanksgiving Break and their classroom fully embraced the importance of teamwork, their character word of the month. The class came together and worked as a team to prepare Stone Soup. By working together, they were able to tackle a large task and ensure that there was plenty for everyone to enjoy.
The day started with reading the foundation of the lesson, which was the story of Stone Soup retold by Heather Frost. After that, each child had the opportunity to contribute to the soup by peeling or cutting an ingredient. The aroma of the soup filled the classroom, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the children engaged in a craft activity that enhanced their fine motor skills, following the story of Stone Soup.
Later in the day, they read Alpert & Friends by LaNesha Tabb, where the children applied their new understanding of characters discussing the different characters and other elements of the story Stone Soup. This allowed them to further understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration.
To conclude the day, they all shared in a nice, warm bowl of homemade stone soup. It was a wonderful way to end the day and celebrate the fruits of their collective efforts.
