Spring is in full swing, and so are our Tiger activities! We’re excited to keep the momentum going by sharing snapshots from across our programs.
We may not capture every group all at once, but we’re committed to recognizing our Tigers throughout the season. Stay tuned!

The Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt is a cherished yearly tradition in our district! Thanks to the generosity of our community, 2,400 eggs filled the hunt. Ms. Wisdom’s 5th-grade class helped hide them, turning the playground into a colorful adventure where some of our youngest Tigers practiced counting and colors while having a blast!

LWJE is proud to recognize the March Students of the Month! This month’s focus was SELF-CONTROL.
Throughout March, students across all grade levels practiced self-control in their classrooms and beyond. It showed up in the way they managed their emotions, made thoughtful choices, and stayed focused on their learning each day. At the end of the month, teachers selected one student from each classroom who truly modeled this important trait.
👏 Join us in celebrating our LWJE Students of the Month for March. We are proud of you! 👏

St. James High School DECA students, along with sponsor Mrs. Hance, spent part of their Spring Break in Kansas City at the State Career Development Conference! They competed in finance, marketing, and project management events.
Through presentations, problem solving, and real-world scenarios, they demonstrated what it means to be Future Focused, applying their learning in meaningful ways beyond the classroom.
Great job representing our district with excellence and professionalism! #DECA #stjschools #tigerpride

High school students had the chance to explore the world of writing with English teacher Steve Betts, a published author. He shared how he crafts stories, finds inspiration, and turns ideas into characters and plots that keep readers guessing. Students also got an inside look at the publishing process, the dedication it takes to bring a book to life, and even a sneak peek at Mr. Betts' upcoming book!
Seeing a teacher live their passion reminds students that creativity and curiosity don’t stop at the classroom door!

Today, 5th graders got a closer look at the music options waiting for them at the middle school! Mr. Payne and Mr. Felan, along with high school band and choir students, walked them through the different options, explained how each program works, and shared what to expect next year.
Then it was time to jump in! Students had the chance to try out instruments and even audition for choir, turning questions into real experiences. Opportunities like this help students start thinking ahead and make confident choices about their future. That is what being Future Focused is all about!

Paraprofessionals make a difference in ways that often go unseen, but never unfelt.
They step in wherever they are needed, support students with patience and care, and help keep our classrooms moving forward each day. From small moments to big breakthroughs, their impact is constant.
Today, we recognize and appreciate the role they play in creating a strong, supportive environment for our students and staff! Thank you for all you do!

Today, 3rd-grade Tigers released butterflies they’ve been observing and caring for in the classroom! From tiny caterpillars to fully formed butterflies, students explored each stage of the life cycle up close while asking questions and making connections. Hands-on learning gives students the chance to practice Critical Thinking as they explore the world around them.

They shared their lessons with younger Tigers at Lucy Wortham James Elementary, mentoring the next generation while reinforcing these values in themselves.

Building Confidence Through Community! ❤️🐯🤍
Two of our Tigers joined students from across the region at Self Advocacy Day, hosted by Francis Howell School District. With guidance from adult mentors, they participated in escape rooms, crafts, and hands-on activities while practicing important self-advocacy skills, including managing hearing equipment, letting teachers know when microphones aren’t working, and requesting closed captioning.
A big thank you to Francis Howell for hosting this event and to our educators for making it possible. It was a meaningful day of learning, connection, and growth!
