At last night’s board meeting, we had the privilege of recognizing some outstanding individuals!
👉 National Beta students from all three buildings were honored for their incredible achievements at this year’s state convention. Their hard work continues to make us proud!
👉 Our Board of Education was recognized in honor of School Board Recognition Month! They received special notes from students, certificates from MSBA and Representative Tara Peters, and our amazing St James PTO sweetened the celebration with cupcakes!
A huge THANK YOU to our board members for their dedication to our students, staff, and community. Your leadership helps make GREAT things happen in our district!

Tigers took their learning outside as Mrs. Wantland’s class dove into Animal Farm! A group of 6th-grade girls, including members of ROX and their friends, participated in a special self-defense class led by Mr. Alan Vance and our own Mrs. Katie DuClos. This class was organized as part of the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) curriculum. With support from the kickboxing class, our students learned not just physical skills but also the importance of confidence and self-worth.

Lucy Wortham James Elementary early childhood educators are always learning and leading! A group recently attended the Conference on the Young Years (CYY) in Osage Beach, diving into the latest in early education.
Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Evers took the stage to present on Early Writing! They shared insights on what early writing looks like, how to encourage it, and why fine motor skills play a big role in the process.

Today, Representative Peters visited St. James Middle School! She met with the ROX Group to discuss women in leadership and received a special tour from a few of our incredible members. Then, she stopped by Citizenship class to talk about government and how her role connects to their work in class.

In February, LWJE students embraced the true meaning of kindness, spreading compassion through their actions every day. Our Word of the Month was KINDNESS, and our students showed just how powerful it can be!
Throughout each month, students across all grade levels will participate in engaging classroom challenges that encourage them to embody the “Word of the Month” in their daily lives. At the end of the month, each classroom teacher will select a student who has truly embraced the spirit of the word. These students will be recognized as "Students of the Month.”
