Learning Highlight: First Grade Tours the St. James Caring Center! 🍎🤝 First grade visited the St. James Caring Center to learn about Commodity Day Distribution and the power of community support. Through our annual food drives, students discover where their food comes from and gain a deeper understanding of those in need. These activities help our young Tigers develop empathy, teamwork, and social awareness. The friendly competition between grade levels makes it even more fun, and all the collected items are donated to the Caring Center to support local families. #communitypartnerships #stjschools #tigerpride

Learning Highlight: Exploring the Night Life! 🦉🐯🔎 Mrs. Owen’s young scientists dove into the world of nocturnal animals! Getting hands-on, they dissected owl pellets, uncovering skulls and bones from the owl’s last meal. It was a fantastic mix of curiosity and discovery! Learning Highlight: Future Voters in Action at LWJE! 🐶🗳️🐱 Lucy Wortham James Elementary held an exciting mock election today, giving students a real-world Election Day experience! The candidates? Buddy the Therapy Dog from the Canine Party and Dewey the Library Cat (robot) representing the Feline Party. Students heard campaign speeches and discussed each candidate's stance on the big issue: recess! While both Buddy and Dewey agree that two recesses are essential, they have different ideas. Buddy advocates for an outdoor second recess, while Dewey suggests an indoor option filled with Legos, art projects, reading, and games. After thoughtful discussions, students headed to the polls, equipped with their voter ID cards, to cast their ballots. Thank you to our special volunteer election judges: Barb Smith, Mitch Weatherly, Carol Weatherly, and Mary Dunkus! Tiger Highlight: FFA National Convention 2024! 💛🐯💙 National Convention 2024 in Indianapolis was a great experience for our Tigers, offering a glimpse into the opportunities available through this incredible organization. The friendships and connections made with students from across the country are invaluable, and each workshop helped our students build leadership skills and bring fresh ideas back to our district. Congratulations to Alexis Mullins (Class of 2024), who was recognized as a National Finalist in the Equine Science Entrepreneurship Proficiency area! We’re also proud to celebrate alumni Seth Hughes, Gracie Satterfield, and Jason Wilkerson (Class of 2023), who earned the highest FFA honor, the American FFA Degree, marking the culmination of years of dedication. We look forward to the continued impact they’ll make as alumni and are grateful for the legacy they leave behind. #FFA #stjschools #tigerpride
