Tiger Highlight!
Last week's STJ HS Cheerleaders Camp was an incredible showcase of unity and mentorship in the St. James R-1 School District. Over fifty students, guided by their older peers, came together, highlighting our commitment to empowering students through caring relationships.
The cheerleaders demonstrated their newfound skills, enthusiasm, and, most importantly, their unity by performing before the varsity football game. Let's continue celebrating initiatives that empower our students, foster unity, and exemplify our #TigerSpirit. A big thanks to our Cheer Coaches for providing an opportunity for students to grow! #STJCheerCamp #stjschools #caringrelationships

Learning Highlight: First-grade Learning is out of this World!
Superintendent Webster recently made a special visit to our 1st-grade classrooms, and the observations were truly remarkable. In the field of mathematics, students were engrossed in mastering the concepts of "greater than" and "less than," establishing a strong foundation in numerical comprehension. Simultaneously, in the English Language Arts (ELA) classes, students were delving into the world of digraphs and sight words, enhancing their reading and language skills.
What sets our educators apart is their ability to seamlessly integrate enjoyable and engaging activities into the learning process, creating a dynamic and enjoyable educational experience for our young learners!

Tiger Highlight: A Time of Transitions!
Our 9th-grade students recently embarked on their high school career with a visit to the high school library, where Mrs. Harlan introduced them to the library's vast resources, circulation process, and students left with books in hand, ready for their academic journey. This experience was a crucial step in their transition, and all of our dedicated librarians continue to make these shifts as smooth as possible!

Tiger Highlight: Students Discover Mark Twain Nominees!
Our 5th-grade students recently paid a visit to Mrs. Hunter at the LWJE library, where the magic of reading truly comes alive! Students learned about the Mark Twain Award Nominees for this year, exploring 12 incredible books by watching Book Trailers for each nominee. Mrs. Hunter explained the Reader's Galaxy Wall, where students can earn a spot by reading at least four of the year’s nominees. By doing so, they get to attend an out-of-this-world party later in the school year. Kudos to Mrs. Hunter for fostering a love for reading! #stjschools #academicexcellence #stjschools

🎨 Learning Highlight: Kindergarten Self-Portraits 🖌️
Kindergarten students in Mrs. River’s class recently embarked on a creative adventure. The task was deceptively simple: creating self-portraits. Yet, behind their creative choice lay a world of cognitive and emotional development. As these budding artists carefully observed their facial features and expressed their emotions through art, they engaged in a full learning experience from hand-eye coordination to visual-spatial awareness. #academicexcellence #stjschools #tigerpride
