Today, the high school hosted its Fall Activity Fair, giving students a chance to check out different sports, clubs, and organizations on campus. They visited tables, asked questions, and signed up for opportunities that fit their interests. It was a great way to connect and get involved this year! #stjschools #tigerpride

ROX Program Grows in St. James R-1! 💪🐯🩷
St. James R-1 is growing the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) program! Last year, a small group of 6th-grade girls at St. James Middle School participated in this powerful initiative, building leadership skills, strengthening communication, and learning strategies to navigate life’s challenges.
Over the summer, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Wilson, and Mrs. Giacolone completed ROX training, which means we can now expand the program to reach even more students across the district. We will have groups in all three buildings this year! The lessons learned through ROX don’t just benefit individual students; they create a ripple effect that strengthens our entire school community! #caringrelationships #stjschools #tigerpride

Ms. Frisbee’s 4th graders explored all five senses during ELA with a tasty twist! They tried fresh mango sprinkled with a little Tajín, capturing every reaction on video. Students will later use their real-time responses to write paragraphs and dialogue, turning their sensory experience into writing. #academicexcellence #stjschools #tigerpride

Every day is a great day to be a Tiger! ❤️🐯🤍

Would You Rather…Library Edition! 📚🐯❤️
8th graders at St. James Middle School had their first library visit of the year! After a quick review of library reminders, they played a book-themed game of "Would You Rather?" to share their reading preferences before checking out books.
With choices made and books checked out, the reading fun begins! #academicexcellence #stjschools #tigerpride

St. James Middle School has handed out its first Positive Office Referrals! These students were recognized for their kindness, respect, and responsibility. Their actions reflect Social Integrity, one of the core values in our Portrait of a Graduate. Keep shining, Tigers! #PortraitOfAGraduate #stjschools #tigerpride

Our newest high school Tigers got a head start this week! Freshman ELA students visited the library with Mrs. Harlan, learning all the procedures and routines to feel at home in the new building. At St. James R-1, we know how important support is during big transitions!

Shout out to the St. James Caring Center and all the local organizations and businesses who hosted the Back to School Fair! Their hard work and generosity provided students and families with supplies and support to start the school year strong.

We’re excited to kick off our Tiger Weekly Highlights with a look at our high school sports participants! Each week, we’ll share snapshots that shine a light on the many activities, sports, and clubs our Tigers are involved in.
While we may not catch every group in a single week, we do our best to make sure our Tigers are recognized throughout the school year!

Third-grade artists are kicking off the school year by setting the foundation for success in Mrs. Copeland’s class! Together, they’re learning classroom norms and exploring what it means to be a good artist: respectful, creative, and ready to try new things.
By starting strong with shared expectations, our students are paving the way for a positive year! #AllRoadsLeadForward #caringrelationships #stjschools #tigerpride

St. James Middle School students put their critical thinking skills to the test during the Race to 100 challenge yesterday! Quick math, problem-solving, and strategy kept everyone engaged while highlighting one of the key skills in our Portrait of a Graduate. #stjschools #tigerpride

We’re excited to share that the St. James R-1 School District will once again be able to offer FREE breakfast for every student this school year through the federal Provision 2 program, made possible with support from DESE.
Even though breakfast is free, we still encourage families to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application if you haven’t already. Your participation helps our district continue providing programs and benefits for all students: https://linqconnect.com/public/meal-application/new?identifier=F74DUX

What is a PLC? It stands for Professional Learning Community. This is weekly time for teachers to work together, review student progress, and plan how to help every child learn and grow.

Mrs. Hodge’s 3D Art students kicked things off by designing their own shoes to “step into” a brand new year of imagination and design. #academicexcellence #stjschools #tigerpride

Mrs. Watson’s class took on the Puzzle Challenge, where only the blindfolded teammate could touch the pieces, and the rest had to coach them through. Lots of laughs, problem-solving, and collaboration along the way! #caringrelationships #stjschools #tigerpride

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, the St. James Police Department, with School Resource Officer Tony Gray, provided annual ALICE training for all three buildings last week during teacher professional development days. This training equips our staff with strategies to keep students safe and strengthens the partnership between our district and local law enforcement.
