Critical Thinking: Exploring the Human Body with Phelps Health! 🫁🐯💡
3rd-grade students got a hands-on look at the human body! Phelps Health brought their inflatable colon and lungs for students to explore after finishing their ELA Unit on Human Body Systems. Seeing science up close helps our students practice critical thinking and make real-world connections! #CriticalThinking #HandsOnLearning #stjschools

ALL-STATE HONORS: Red Regiment Tigers Shine! 🎵🐯❤️
St. James students traveled to Columbia for All-State Band, Orchestra, and Jazz auditions last weekend! Out of more than 1,100 eligible musicians statewide, 3 of our 4 Tigers earned callbacks or honorable mentions:
⭐️Cat Murphy earned a flute callback, placing her in the top 45 high school flute players in Missouri.
⭐️Sydney Harris earned a flute callback and 2nd chair Honorable Mention, ranking her 17th statewide.
⭐️Keiran Goodridge earned 6th chair Honorable Mention in general percussion, placing him 21st in the state.
Only 31 of the 341 honorees came from class 3A or smaller schools. St. James was one of just 6 schools in that group with multiple students recognized. Please help us congratulate our Tigers! #ArtsinEducation #stjschools #tigerpride

St. James Senior Beta Club students, guided by Sponsor Mrs. Berkelman, visited Tiger Cubs to help them write letters to Santa! This special visit showed kindness, respect, and thoughtfulness, bringing Social Integrity to life in our school community. #PortraitofaGraduate #stjschools #tigerpride

Sixth graders are one step closer to their Science Center field trip thanks to the generosity of IHOP of Rolla! Their $500 contribution will help cover travel costs and make this hands-on learning experience possible.
Support like this reflects the caring relationships and strong community partnerships that help us empower students every day! #MissionMakers #stjschools #tigerpride

Lucy’s Stripes and Sweets is all about students learning by doing and spreading a little happiness along the way. LWJE staff place their sweet orders at the start of the week and on Friday students deliver them.
Under the guidance of Mr. Fricke, students manage orders, handle money, and make deliveries! This program touches all five core values of our Portrait of a Graduate: Effective Communication through taking and delivering orders, Engaged Citizenship by serving the school community, Critical Thinking in managing logistics, Future Focused by practicing leadership and accountability, and Social Integrity through kindness.
It's proof that real learning happens when students get hands-on, take responsibility, and make someone’s day a little sweeter! #caringrelationships #stjschools #tigerpride

Mrs. Schisler and Mrs. Ortega’s fifth graders wrapped up their classroom economy by putting their savings to use during a class auction! Students earned paychecks for their jobs, paid rent, and learned how to manage their “money” throughout the project. When auction day arrived, they used those earnings to choose small prizes or spend meaningful time with a teacher or staff member, including reading to a younger class or playing a game.
It was a hands-on way to practice Engaged Citizenship by giving students real choices and opportunities to contribute to their school community! #PortraitofaGraduate #stjschools #tigerpride

Holiday Superlatives, Admin Edition! 🎄🧑🎄🥁
Our district administrative team paused during today’s planning meeting for some festive fun as peers voted on which holiday characters we most resemble. It turns out nothing brings out teamwork quite like discovering who is Santa, who channels Buddy the Elf, and who is as sweet as the Sugar Plum Fairy!
Even in fun moments like this, we’re practicing the same skills we hope our students grow every day, from Effective Communication to Critical Thinking! #PortraitofaGraduate #stjschools #tigerpride

Ms. Wisdom’s fifth graders brought some holiday cheer when they visited first graders in Ms. Perkins and Miss Halbert’s class to help with letters to Santa! The older students jumped right into their mentoring role, guiding ideas and cheering on their younger buddies.
It was a simple moment that showed Effective Communication growing in both grades as they worked together! #stjschools #tigerpride

At Lucy Wortham James Elementary, students focused on PERSEVERANCE as the Word of the Month, learning what it means to keep going, even when things get tough.
Each month, classrooms take on challenges that help students put the Word of the Month into practice. At the end of the month, teachers select a student who has truly shown the word in action. These students are celebrated as "Students of the Month!"
Congratulations to LWJE November Students of the Month! #perseverance #tigerpride #stjschools

Today, Mrs. Garr and Mrs. Moreland’s classes went outside to catch snowflakes and they were picture-perfect! #stjschools #tigerpride

Thanksgiving break began with a wonderful act of service! LWJE Student Council students packed 68 food bags for counselors to deliver across the district, showing the heart of our Tiger community. This is a great example of Engaged Citizenship in our Portrait of a Graduate, as students learn the importance of serving and supporting others. #EngagedCitizenship #stjschools #tigerpride
