First graders took their learning outdoors last week with a trip to Maramec Spring Park! With the help of park staff, students discovered native animals, explored local ecosystems, and experienced the wonder of nature firsthand.

🌟 Tiger Highlight: Perseverance in Action at LWJE! 🌟
April brought plenty of opportunities for students to push through challenges, and they rose to the occasion! At Lucy Wortham James Elementary, they celebrated PERSEVERANCE as the Word of the Month, focusing on what it means to keep going, even when things get tough.
Throughout each month, students across all grade levels will participate in engaging classroom challenges that encourage them to embody the “Word of the Month” in their daily lives. At the end of the month, each classroom teacher will select a student who has truly embraced the spirit of the word. These students will be recognized as "Students of the Month.”

Tiger Highlight: Nacho Average Reading Day! 🎉🐯❤️
6th-grade ELA students celebrated all their hard work on the MAP test with a well-deserved Nacho Party! They enjoyed a “Nacho Average Reading Day” packed with good books, a build-your-own nacho bar, cookies, and drinks. Students at Lucy Wortham James Elementary had a blast at the FFA Petting Zoo! They got up close with a variety of animals and played a special animal-themed Bingo game created by our FFA students to learn more about each one.

Learning Highlight: Phases of the Moon in 1st Grade! 🌙🐯🍪
Ms. Perkins' class had a fun hands-on lesson creating the phases of the moon using Oreo cookies. After they finished their lunar models, they got to enjoy their creations as a tasty treat!

Tiger Highlight: St. James Middle School Honor Society Induction Night! ❤️🐯🤍
GREAT things are happening at St. James Middle School! 62 students were recently inducted into the Honor Society, and these students truly represent what it means to be Tigers.
In addition to the induction, several 8th-grade students received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, the highest recognition for academic performance at the middle school level!
Congratulations to all of our honorees, and thank you to the families, staff, and community members who helped make the night so special. Keep on shining! ⭐️

Tiger Highlight: NHS Spring Blood Drive a Success! ❤️🐯🤍
Last week, St. James R-1 High School NHS members hosted the Spring Blood Drive! With 44 donations from students and staff, combined with the donations from the Fall drive, NHS helped collect nearly 80 life-saving units of blood this school year.
A big thank you to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for partnering with us and to all who volunteered their time to support this meaningful cause!

Grape and Fall Festival Queen and proud St. James Tiger, Addalye Felan, represented our community with grace and pride at Royalty Day at the Capitol! She was recognized on the House floor by our elected officials and showed up with confidence, class, and a whole lot of Tiger spirit.

St. James FFA had a successful State Convention this year, with some outstanding achievements. Notably, Kate Strackeljahn earned 6th place in Division 2 Public Speaking, and St. James alum M’Lynn Steen received her State Degree!
