Our students are coming together, collaborating, and demonstrating outstanding respect. January's Word of the Month is RESPECT! Throughout each month, students across all grade levels will participate in engaging classroom challenges that encourage them to embody the “Word of the Month” in their daily lives. At the end of the month, each classroom teacher will select a student who has truly embraced the spirit of the word. Learning Highlight: Artistic Adventures with Mixed Media Hot Chocolate! 🎨☕🖌️ Fourth-grade students in Ms. Bowen’s class had a delicious hot chocolate party in Mrs. Mendenhall's art class today! Their learning target was clear: "I can create a mixed media artwork." From marshmallows to steam swirls, they crafted a mixed media cup of hot chocolate that warmed our hearts. After completing the project and engaging in thoughtful self-evaluations, students were treated to hot chocolate with all the fixings! Tiger Highlight: Firehouse Coffee Shop Brewing Philanthropy in St. James! ☕🚒 A heartfelt thank you to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for their invaluable support as our high school students continue their philanthropic journey through Firehouse Coffee Shop. Recently, students visited Springfield, where they took part in grantmaking discussions with Rachel Tripp and the Programs team at CFO. Inspired, they explored various coffeehouses, unraveling the origins of these businesses, and have now brought that rich knowledge to Firehouse Coffeeshop. 🌟 What sets Firehouse Coffeeshop apart? Operated by high school students in the St. James chapter of the Youth Empowerment Project, this program instills profound philanthropic values.
